Abstract

Retinyl palmitate is a high molecular weight compound derived from vitamin A to function as an antioxidant. Antioxidants are substances that inhibit or prevent oxidation in the substrate caused by free radicals. This study aims to determine the retinyl palmitate serum preparations can be made with a good physical quality test, and determine the serum retinyl palmitate with a variety of stable concentrations of sodium gluconate during the storage process. Serum is formulated with low viscosity and is less clear, which contains higher levels of active ingredients than topical preparations. Serum has the advantage of having a high concentration of active ingredients, giving a more comfortable effect and more easily spread on the surface of the skin. This serum formula was tested for physical characterization of serum preparations including organoleptic, viscosity, and pH tests, then tested for antioxidant activity and storage stability test. The results showed that retinyl palmitate can be made as a serum preparation that has characterization based on organoleptic tests, which are runny gel, clear yellow color, and typical aroma of retinyl palmitate. In testing the viscosity and pH compliance requirements. Physical safety testing visual observation tests is not stable during storage. Keywords : Retinyl Palmitate, Serum, Sodium glukonat
