Abstract
This research aims to know the correlation between the intensity of gadget usage and social interaction at young people in SMA Negeri 8 Surakarta. The hypothesis which was affered is there is a negative correlation between the intensity of gadget usage and social interaction at young people. This research uses quantitative method while the technique of getting the sample is stratified random sampling. The subjects of this research are student of X, XI, and XII classed of SMA Negeri 8 Surakarta whit the total students are 70 students. The instrument was used in this research is scale of the intensity of gadget usage and scale of social interaction. The method was used to analyze the data is correlation Product Moment by Pearson with the help of SPSS 23.0 for windows release. The result of the data shows that the correlation coefficient is rxy= -0,317 whit p = 0,008 (p<0,01). It shows that there is a very significant negative correlation between the intensity of gadget usage and social interaction of the subject, so the hypothesis of this research is accepted.
