Abstract

Essential oil of kaffir lime leaves (Citrus hystrix DC) is one of the active substances from nature that functions as an anti-acne. Essential oils of kaffir lime leaves have anti-acne activity against p.acne. The purpose of this study was to determine whether the essential oils of kaffir lime leaves (Citrus hystrix DC) can be made emulgel preparations with variations in the concentration of HPMC that meet the best physical quality test. The essential oil emulgel of kaffir lime leaves is made with a variety of HPMC concentrations: formula 1 (2%), formula 2 (3%), formula 3 (4%). Then each formula was tested for physical quality with the same treatment. Tests include: organoleptic test, homogeneity test, pH test, viscosity test, adhesion test, dispersion test, emulsion type test, and temperature stability test. Data were statistically analyzed by One Way ANOVA. The results showed that essential oils of kaffir lime leaves (Citrus hystrix DC) with variations in HPMC concentrations can be made emulgel preparations that meet physical quality tests. Formula 3 (HPMC 4%) based on testing has the best physical quality and stability. Keywords: emulgel, essential oil, HPMC
