Abstract

Inflammation is a protective response of the body to injury, characterized by the presence of red, heat and pain due to edema. The purpose of this study to know the anti-inflammatory activity on duwet leaves ethanol extract by in vivo, the dose of duwet leaf ethanol extract which is the most effective as an anti-inflammatory and its safety on the mice stomach. Duwet leaves were extracted by maceration method using 96% ethanol. The anti-inflammatory tests and their safety in the stomach were divided into six groups, that were group of normal control, negative control (CMC-Na 0.5%), positive control (diclofenac sodium 4.5 mg/kg BW), ethanol extract of duwet leaves dose of 75 mg, 150 mg and 300 mg/kg BW. Antiinflammatory activity test using Rat hind paw oedema method induced with 1% lambda carrageenan, while gastric safety testing was observed macroscopically using ulcers severity score. Data analysis using Shapiro Wilk test and continued with one way ANOVA test. The results showed that duwet leaves ethanol extract dose of 75 mg, 150 mg, 300 mg/kg BW rats had anti-inflammatory activity against carrageenaninduced mice and were safe in rat stomach after oral administration of duwet leaves ethanol extract for 5 days and duwet leaf ethanol extract of 300 mg/kg BW mice have the most effective atinflammatory activity. Key words: duwet leaves, antiinflamatory, safety on the stomach
