Abstract
Centella asiatica leaves and soursop leaves contain flavonoids, saponins, alkaloids, tannins and steroids which have antihyperglycemic effects so that the two plants have the opportunity to be combined. The aim of the research was to determine the activity of combination preparations of gotu kola and soursop leaf extracts and to improve the histopathology of the rat pancreas induced by alloxan as an antihyperglycemic agent. The study used the maceration method with 96% ethanol solvent, the activity test using alloxan as a diabetagonic agent. 25 rats were divided into 5 groups. Negative control CMC Na 0.5%; positive control of Glibenclamide 0.45 mg/Kg BW rats; single dosage of gotu kola leaves 50 mg/Kg BW of rats; single dosage of soursop leaves 150 mg/Kg body weight of rats; and a combination of ½ dose of a single preparation of gotu kola leaves and soursop leaves 25 mg/Kg BW of rats and 75 mg/Kg BW of rats. Rat blood glucose measurements were carried out on day 0; 3; 10; and 17 used a glucometer, then pancreatic surgery to measure the diameter of the islets of Langerhans. The data obtained was processed using SPSS using the One way Anova test. The results showed that a combination of ½ dose of a single preparation of gotu kola and soursop leaves was able to provide antihyperglycemic activity comparable to the positive control with a decrease in blood glucose of 67.11% and a combination of 65.18% and better than the single preparation and on histopathological readings Pancreas cannot be seen any improvement because the data obtained cannot be used Keywords: gotu kola leaves, soursop leaves, antihyperglycemic, alloxan, pancreatic histopathology
