Abstract

Osteoarthritis is a degenerative disease with indications of joint stiffness and pain, with a prevalence in Indonesia of up to 2 million sufferers. Osteoarthritis treatment takes a long time, so there is a possibility of side effects. Side effects that occur can interfere with the health of people with osteoarthritis. This study aims to determine the incidence of side effects of NSAID (Nonsteroidal Anti-inflammatory Drug) drugs in Osteoarthritis patients at Level III Hospital Slamet Riyadi Surakarta for the period November-December 2022. This research was conducted prospectively. The data collection instrument uses the Naranjo Algorithm to identify whether there is a relationship between unwanted clinical symptoms and the drugs used using a questionnaire to obtain a probability score. Subjects were osteoarthritis patients at the outpatient installation of Level III Hospital Slamet Riyadi Surakarta for the period November-December 2022. The number of samples in this study were 48 patients according to predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. The results obtained from 48 patients found 5 (10.4%) respondents experienced side effects in the form of nausea, vomiting and pain in the stomach. Drugs that caused side effects were diclofenac sodium for 3 respondents, mefenamic acid for 1 respondent and meloxicam for 1 respondent with a probable degree of certainty.
