Abstract

Liquor is a drink containing alcohol. Alcoholic beverages have some bad effects and long term consumption can harm liver. The liver disorder due to alcohol consumption can be detected by examining enzyme found in the liver. One of enzymes related to liver disorder caused by alcohol is gamma glutamil transpeptidase enzyme. Based on the backgrounds study, this research aimed to determine gamma glutamil transpeptidase enzyme level of alcohol drinker at Ngrombo Village, Baki Sukoharjo. This research compiled based on examination results of gamma glutamil transpeptidase enzyme level of 30 vein blood samples collected from alcohol drinker by applying Colorimetric Kinetik Increasing Reaction according to IFCC (International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine). The examination of 30 blood samples of alcohol drinker obtained result as follow: 17 samples (56,67%) from 30 samples tested indicated the increase of enzyme activity and 13 samples (43,33%) from 30 samples tested didn’t show activity increase of gamma glutamil transpeptidase enzyme. The alcohol drinker should stop consuming alcohol because excessive and long term consumption is very harmful for health especially liver. Key Words: Gamma glutamil transpeptidase, alcohol drinker
